Some Art 3 & 4 students chose a charcoal study as the upcoming week's sketchbook assignment. Here they are posing for each other! Other students in the class chose 3-dimensional assignments. Art 1 students worked towards this learning target for two days: I can apply value techniques to create an observational drawing outdoors:trees & textures.(DOK4) We had nice weather to enjoy the outdoor drawing study. Fifth period students didn't have the tolerance for the heat that came later in the day so they focused on perspective and drew in the lobby. Students in Art 2, 3, and 4 used dry-erase score boards to evaluate the effectiveness of their classmates print series. This group critique allows students to share their evaluation using relevant art vocabulary and encourages discussion among classmates. Did you know we paint on the table in Art?! For a monoprinting series, Art 2, 3, and 4 students used the flat surface of the tables to create an image. We then created prints of the image by laying paper over the top and applying pressure to complete the transfer. This printmaking technique is unique in that it results in only one original. Students were of course taught to properly clean up, and no table was harmed during this art making process!
