Tonight we had our school-wide art exhibit! Collections (the exhibit title) will be a yearly event to celebrate the talent and hard work of our students. Listed and pictured below are winners.
Best in Show: Jessica Major // Best 2D: Kelsey Crosby // Best 3D: Taylor Thompson
Honorable Mentions: Riana Higdon, Jacob Jones, Cierra Leach, and Elizabeth Dinkins
In 6th period we looked at a series by artist Robert Longo called Men in Cities. The gestural poses were our inspiration for the action photos. I adapted this lesson from a Tim Bogatz unit on Art of Education. Instead of just being a study of the figure, we made our silhouettes go places in a unit called Where Am I? They traced their silhouettes, added details, and then a background of their choice responding to the action of the figure. Here are some of our action shots. Oh yeah, I threw nerf balls at some of them to get the shots!
Today we also had Art Club members competing in a paper airplane contest!
I invite you to browse this blog often to get a taste of my favorite part of my job - the process! Here I focus on students engaging with their work. If you are looking for final products, please visit our online gallery on Artsonia.
