In 6th period we looked at a series by artist Robert Longo called Men in Cities. The gestural poses were our inspiration for the action photos. I adapted this lesson from a Tim Bogatz unit on Art of Education. Instead of just being a study of the figure, we made our silhouettes go places in a unit called Where Am I? They traced their silhouettes, added details, and then a background of their choice responding to the action of the figure. Here are some of our action shots. Oh yeah, I threw nerf balls at some of them to get the shots! Today we also had Art Club members competing in a paper airplane contest! While watching Netflix original series, Abstract: The Art of Design, students sketched ideas for innovative designs. Each class produced a wide variety of designs for illustration, shoes, architecture, and more. |
