Each month I select an Artist to feature on our bulletin board in the hallway. Here are our past winners', and current winner's bulletin. Maybe I can keep up with posting these every month! Congrats to Jacob Henry, Cierra Leach, and Keely Duncan!

In 6th period we looked at a series by artist Robert Longo called Men in Cities. The gestural poses were our inspiration for the action photos. I adapted this lesson from a Tim Bogatz unit on Art of Education. Instead of just being a study of the figure, we made our silhouettes go places in a unit called Where Am I? They traced their silhouettes, added details, and then a background of their choice responding to the action of the figure. Here are some of our action shots. Oh yeah, I threw nerf balls at some of them to get the shots! Today we also had Art Club members competing in a paper airplane contest! This week all Art classes have in the process of creating contest posters for our Community/Positive Behaviors Unit. This unit began last week with discussion about examples of community and how artists create objects that shape lives and communities. We are focusing on building a positive community in and outside our classroom by participating in Red Ribbon Week, SafeSchools Week, and the Adopt-a-Highway contest to raise awareness about the harmful effects of drug use, bullying, and littering with our artworks. Posters will be submitted Friday! |
